Sleeping Dingo on the couch while I’m reading

Whenever I decide to read for a while, I like to make myself comfortable on the couch. When it’s a bit chilly, I put cushions all around and cover myself with a blanket. When I about to start reading, Dingo brings his colorful dotted blanket to me. He wants to join me on the couch. I put his blanket between my legs so I can still stretch out. When I tap on his spot, Dingo jumps on and circle around a few times before lying down. After a while, I start hearing his snoring. I slowly put my book down and grab my iPad very quietly and start drawing him. I sketch him first just in case he changes his position, which he does a lot. After done sketching and adding colors, I carefully put my iPad down and open my book again. Even though reading is a very private activity, his company just makes it better.

One day we took Honey to the grooming shop.  She is a tiny Yorkshire Terrier.  I was holding her on my arm and looking at other dogs.  Later, my husband told me that a lady next to me stared at Honey for a long time.  He thinks she liked her very much.  I used to hear that Yorkshire Terriers have a mean personality.  But Honey is a sweetheart.  Now she has a sister who is small like her, but has a bit of a temper.  No matter how they are, all the dogs are so cute.

Honey seems to like riding in a car.  It’s probably fun to look outside.  I wish I knew how dogs look at the world.

Honey was the newest dog in my in-laws’ house before Boots died and Sugar came.  She followed around Boots a lot and had all my attention when I was there.  I played with her often.  Fetching her toys, moving my hands under the blankets, and tie her favorite doll around her body.

When my first dog came to our family, I was too young and didn’t know much about dogs.  I didn’t play with her much and it aches my heart every time I think about it.

I love the gaze of my husband and Honey in the picture.  I can feel the love between them.  I can’t wait to see her again.

One fun fact of the U.S.  There is a giant flag in front of all car dealer shops!

At the beach, we had so much fun.  I don’t know how long we were in the water, but I remember I was so tired from laughing too much.  I jumped into the water from his shoulder.  We chased each other around.   Also, he snuck up to me under water like a sea monster.  We finally came out from the water and relaxed for a bit.  He played rock skipping.  I tried too but I’m not very good at it.  All my rocks were going straight into the water.

It was our last time we went into the water at a beach.  It was such a fun day.  I can’t wait for our next time in the sea!

One day, I took care of some stuff and came up to the room in his home in Japan.  Then I saw him in his underwear and wearing the hat he bought in Hawaii, playing a game.  He has very weird yet funny ideas that make me laugh.

I sometimes find him in front of a pizza box holding a slice like Buddha.   Other times he simply hid and I had to find him.  I started to hide from him too.  But the problem is, I can’t compose my self in that situation and I burst out laughing at my husband’s search.  I’m the worst hide and seek player.

After a playful day, it usually ended with driving around.  We used to find random spots to stop and look around.  Everything was so blue up on the observation spot we found.  We were the only people, and just a few cars were passing by.  It was very relaxing.

It was late January.  I was back in the U.S.  The new semester just started and I was getting busy.  My husband told me that he had a business trip to Hawaii.  When he arrived in Hawaii, he did his work and got some days off to enjoy the island.  He asked me if I wanted to join him.  I got surprised by his sudden suggestion.  But I really wanted to go so I told my teachers and got generous understandings.  I flew to the island shortly after and met my husband.  I landed around sunset.  The sunlight reflecting on the vast airport ground was so shiny and beautiful.  My husband said he wasn’t thinking about inviting me over.  But the island was so beautiful, he wanted to enjoy it with me.  It was the most surprising event I got from my husband.  He bought a hat there for the extreme sunlight.  I posed with that hat and I looked like a witch, but a very happy one.

I remember when I was checking in at the airport to fly to Hawaii.  The lady at the checking account said she was jealous of me.  I hope she got a nice vacation shortly after.

After my husband got a car, we went for a drive almost everytime we got a chance.  We don’t like crowded places but love to see new things.  Driving around is perfect for us.  We drove around the countryside of Japan without a map or GPS.  Many times we just followed one road without a destination.  One time we ended up at the top of a mountain.  Even though there was no snow where we started, the top had quite a bit of it.  We took some pictures and continued driving down the same road.  On the opposite side of the mountain, we arrived at a small town with many tiny vineyards.  Unknowingly, we discovered a great grape town!

When we went to Kotoku-in Temple to see the Great Buddha, we had to take a pretty long train ride.  On the train, my husband pointed at something outside.  I turned around to look but for some reason, I turned looked over my other shoulder to see, so eventually, I had to turn over 180 degrees to see it.  I don’t even remember what it was but I remember so well how much we laughed together after my silly act.

Kotoku-in Temple was nice.  The size of the Great Buddha was amazing.  A kind man offered to take our picture, and he took it very nicely.  When it was getting dark, the temple started to turn on the lights above our heads.  Orange light against the dark blue sky told us it’s time to go home.

In Japan, I’m inspired by small city views, especially with power lines.  In Korea, where I’m from, don’t have a lot of power lines on the street.  It was a relatively new area in Seoul, so they put most of them underground.  In Japan, the power lines cross the roofs and sky all around the country.  They look chaotic but also harmonized.  One of my favorite scenes in Japan is the contrast of black wires against sunrise or sunset.

I saw this view in Kamakura. I also took a picture of my husband posing for me in Kotoku-in Temple.
